The Meiji R-1 is known for its super probiotic benefits, largely thanks to the lactic acid bacteria, that support health, particularly gut health. It is available in many varieties like drinkable, low-sugar, and flavored options. Despite being a health product, the Meiji R-1 drink tastes really good. It is widely recognized for its role in daily wellness in Japan. The product in this review is the original plain, 112 gram drinkable yogurt, which is widely available nationwide. It also comes in strawberry and blueberry flavors and there is another that is fortified with iron.

I really don't have much to say about negative features. On the day I bought the Meiji R-1 in this photo, I happened to get it at a twenty per cent discount because it was after 6 pm and the product's use by date was only two days later. So on that occasion it only cost me 128 yen, but usually it is 20% more expensive. But truthfully, I normally buy it at its full price anyway, so I am willing to pay more for it. I think it is worth the price tag, because not only does it have proven health benefits, it also tastes really good too. Its not often a health product tastes so good!
