Keeping cool in summer: Ice King Cooling Mist
There are a huge number of cooling products available in Japan, and right now they’re taking center stage in shops across the country. Seasonal retail space has shifted fully into “summer mode,” with cooling goods grouped together in prominent displays. For this series, I’m looking at some of the items you’ll find there - starting with ICE KING Cooling Mist. These aren't reviews, just simple explanations of what each product is.

If you’ve browsed any summer retail displays in Japan, you’ve probably seen ICE KING Cooling Mist. The bold blue with a fierce polar bear and icy graphics and a name that promises instant relief stands out. It’s one of the more dramatic-looking cooling products on the shelf, but at its core it’s simply a cooling mist designed to give a quick burst of cold air sensation on the skin.
What it is
ICE KING is a 冷気ミスト (cooling mist) that you spray directly onto your skin or clothing. It uses menthol and cooling agents to create a sharp, refreshing chill, the kind that feels especially good when stepping outside on a humid day or after a long walk. While its not that big, it isn't a great shape for a handbag, but could fit in a sports bag or the glove box of a car.
If you have used this product, I would love to hear what you thought of it. Do you think it works? Did it help you cool down? Would you recommend it as a cooling product?
