A great excuse to spend those City-cost points: Amazon Prime Day

I realized today that its currently "Prime Day" in Japan. "Prime Day" is an annual event exclusively for Prime members, with deals galore. But thankfully it's not just for one day - this year it is once again on for four days. It started yesterday and continues until 23:59 on Monday July 13th, 2026.  So, there is still a chance to pick up some incredible deals for prime members.

A major highlight is the Prime Day Point‑Up Campaign, which rewards shoppers who spend ¥10,000 or more on eligible items. Prime members earn +2%, Amazon Mastercard users get +3%, and certain categories offer even higher returns — +6% on Kao and SK‑II products, and +7% on home appliances and AV equipment. These bonuses stack, giving some purchases a surprisingly generous point boost.

Shoppers who join the point‑up campaign are also automatically entered into a lottery, with prizes ranging from 100,000 points for one lucky winner, 10,000 points for ten winners, and 100 points for 400,000 participants. With deals across electronics, home appliances, beauty, daily essentials, and popular brands, it makes it's one of Amazon’s biggest annual shopping campaigns - and a great chance to spend those hard-earned City-cost points!
