Spaintei featured on the national news tonight!
In the lead‑up to the World Cup Final, NHK (Japan's national broadcaster) featured a chef who trained in Spain on the 9 O'Clock news. That chef now owns and runs one of Kawagoe’s long‑standing Spanish restaurants: Spaintei.
I’ve reviewed Spaintei on City‑Cost before, and it remains one of my favourite local spots - complete with its own miniature Sagrada Família on display. It also has stunning stainless windows, as well as intricate mosaic features. Not to mention, the giant paella pan outside, which played a part in the chef securing the Guinness World Record for the largest paella ever made.
If you’re curious, you can read that review here or a more detailed account in English here.

Former nickname was "Saitama". Changed it to save confusion on place review posts! Irish, 20+ years in Japan! I also write on my personal website: insaitama.com
