The description
An assortment of Petit gateau and pastries from famous local bakery ranging from the staple strawberry shortcake to the special seasonal Sakura collection.
The good
The best one was No. 4 which looked like a berry only pastry but has a surprise layer of chocolate mousse and cake at the very bottom which paired really well with the tartness of the berries and they layers on top. Next was No. 5 which tastes like a Ferrero Rocher cake due to multiple layers of chocolatey goodness sprinkled with bits of hazelnuts in the middle. Then it was would be No. 3 because you can never go wrong with a strawberry shortcake in Japan. Fluffiest cream paired with tart strawberries and sponge cake which just melts in your mouth.
The not so good
No. 2 was disappointing because of how dry the cake was. I've tried various chocolate gâteau and they tend to be quite rich and dense but this one was quite underwhelming. No. 1 was looked the prettiest and I saved it for the end but it turned out to be subpar. The macron was way too sweet, the chocolate decorations has an extremely weird texture and the petit gâteau in itself was 95% cream without much flavor with a little bit of berry puree in the middle. Seasonal stuff may look very pretty but I would recommend to stick with the classics because that is what they make the best.
Born in India and raised in the UAE surrounded by a kaleidoscope of cultures, recently, I packed my bags (and my love for shawarma!) and moved to Japan with the love of my life, embarking on a journey full of new adventures, flavors, and discoveries.
Food is my universal language, and exploring different cuisines is how I connect with the world. Whether it’s savoring a bowl of ramen in a bustling Tokyo alleyway or reminiscing over the taste of homemade pulav, I believe every bite tells a story. To me, food and culture are the ultimate bridges between people, showing us that deep down, we’re all the same.
Through this blog, I hope to share my journey of blending Middle Eastern memories, Indian roots, and Japanese adventures—all served with a side of good vibes and even better food.
