The description
A French cruller made with brioche dough dipped in a fragrant strawberry chocolate with a topping of small white crackling balls scattered on the surface.
The good
I really loved how airy the dough was. It made the donut feel so light. The brioche gave it the iconic chewy texture and now I can understand why the I'm donut? donuts have cultivated such a cult following. I am betting all my money on the chewy dough and the freshest flavoring toppings. Talking of toppings this donut was covered with a strawberry chocolate which tasted very freshly tart and nothing like those synthetic strawberry flavorings. The strawberry chocolate formed a thin shell on top of the donut and it was an amazing contrast to the chewy base. The most surprising texture was the "white crackling balls" which crumbled into your mouth as you bit them.
The not so good
My only concern with this donut would be the price. Even though this is sold as a seasonal special which I can understand is always priced higher that its regular contemporaries due to usage of fresh exclusive seasonal ingredients. But if you are to compare I'm donut? with Mister Donut you'll notice a huge difference. Even though Mister Donut also comes out with seasonal products but is always reasonably priced. I'd definitely recommend I'm donut? for the taste, texture and the whole mouth feels adventure but perhaps save it for a special day celebration eh?
Born in India and raised in the UAE surrounded by a kaleidoscope of cultures, recently, I packed my bags (and my love for shawarma!) and moved to Japan with the love of my life, embarking on a journey full of new adventures, flavors, and discoveries.
Food is my universal language, and exploring different cuisines is how I connect with the world. Whether it’s savoring a bowl of ramen in a bustling Tokyo alleyway or reminiscing over the taste of homemade pulav, I believe every bite tells a story. To me, food and culture are the ultimate bridges between people, showing us that deep down, we’re all the same.
Through this blog, I hope to share my journey of blending Middle Eastern memories, Indian roots, and Japanese adventures—all served with a side of good vibes and even better food.
