Giant (Ice Cream) Reward

I had been eyeing this Giant "drumstick" ice cream cone for a while, but unable to rationalize paying 148 yen for it when that would almost pay for a box of ice cream bars.

The regular Giant cones are less than 100 yen each, but this is a premium flavor. After all, it's called "Adult Chocolate Berry."

What convinced me to try it is one of my students excitedly telling me she rewarded herself (after four days of testing at school) with a triple scoop of gelato.

Japanese has this cute word: (御褒美) gohoubi, that means to reward yourself. The first character is to make it sound polite since you're giving yourself a reward.

I needed a gohoubi too. I've been working six days a week for over a month to cover some make-up lessons - delayed because of Covid19. I got this to celebrate the last lesson in that course.

And look, after opening this up, I was thanked for my hard work, haha.

This is not an every day ice cream. In fact, I'm not enough of an adult for it. I had to give my husband a couple bites because it was too much for me. (I've gotten used to tiny Japanese ice creams?) 

I'm not a chocolate cone fan, but overall, this was yummy.
