Minoh Beer (Japanese Peach Wiesen)

This label illustration is so good I had to try it.

We recently moved to Minoo (or Minoh or Mino...) in Osaka Prefecture, so I wanted to try this local beer. I had already heard of Minoh Beer and seen this monkey illustration on a coaster a friend gave me.

The company sells a few regular brews for a little less, but this one is a limited seasonal peach variety that comes in at 420 yen a bottle. There is also the 'Monkey IPA' on the left in the below photo.

I got these at the Grand Marche wine shop in Onohara Higashi neighborhood. It's a college town with Osaka University Suita campus nearby.

It was really nice! Super light and slightly fruity, with a bit of fizz and almost no foam. Maybe this was my first time to try a Weizen wheat / white beer. I think this would be nicer on a really hot day, but it's already cooling down. I might wait until next summer, but I'd like to try some of their other varieties.

Those monkey beers are pricy but they never miss!
