Tons of Macadamia Nuts Ice Cream

Tons of Macadamia Nuts Ice Cream photo

I think I finally understand why Japan loves Haagen-Dazs ice cream.

I know that it exists in the US, but have just had it there once. (One time a Japanese classmate brought some to a pot luck.) I guess there is local quality stuff I always chose instead.

Here the teeny (110ml) tubs are at least 200 yen each, so I don't think I've ever bought it. I have had some gifted to me for doing a favor (kabocha, which is the closest Japan got to pumpkin spice flavor in fall nine years ago).

I got a couple tubs as a treat for my husband's three months at the new job as an 'otsukaresamadesu' gesture.

This macadamia and strawberry seemed like the flavors he'd like the most. First we split this one and haven't had strawberry yet.

It's super creamy and I was surprised that each tiny spoonful had several chunks of macadamia in it.

Yes, more expensive.

But worth it?

What flavor should we try next, for those of you who already buy Haagen-Dazs at least sometimes?
