The description

This product is a Green Craft Fragrant Espresso Affogato tub from the Haagen Dazs brand. I found it at my local 7-11 store and it was priced at 351 yen including tax.

The good

This new offering from Haagen Dazs has quite a few good things going for it! Since it's built around plant-based milk, I think it's a good way attract people who are reducing dairy or looking for alternatives that still feel indulgent instead of restrictive. The product uses Madagascar vanilla which IMO gives it a more premium feel, and the soy milk base is nice and creamy and rich rather than thin or icy, which I find can sometimes be a drawback in non-dairy ice creams. The espresso sauce is another big plus. Ethiopian Mocha beans and concentrated roasted coffee extract give it a stronger and more aromatic coffee flavor than you might expect from a mass produced ice cream, so two thumbs up there!

The not so good

While the product to me had a nice flavor, soy can still have a distinct taste that I don't think everyone enjoys. For some people, even a well-made soy dessert can carry a bit of a beany or earthy note, so if that's not your cup of tea then I would suggest a standard dairy-based ice cream for you. The price can be a drawback as well. At 351 yen including tax, it's definitely a more premium price tag than a lot of other icy-based treats at convenience stores or supermarkets. If you don't have a need for a soy-based option, then you can 100% find more economical options than this product. Overall though, tasty, and I loved the coffee/soy milk/vanilla flavor combo.
