Japan's natural disaster risk compared to your home country
Living here in Japan has meant that I've been no stranger to things like earthquakes and typhoons, but there are other natural disasters that happen here too like tsunamis and volcanic eruptions. It got me thinking about the risk of those events happening in different countries, and there's actually research/statistics on that very topic.

The World Risk Index (WRI) compiles a list of countries around the world by their natural disaster risk, and interestingly, my home country of Australia actually has a higher risk percentage than Japan. Japan's percentage in the 2022 research was 17.03%, compared to 21.36% for Australia. Another interesting point to note is how the risk percent for many places has increased in recent years, likely owing to the impacts of climate change.
How does your home country fare on the World Risk Index compared to Japan?
