A fukubukuro for coffee lovers at Tully's Coffee

I mentioned recently in a blog post here on City-Cost that I prefer my fukubukuro to be consumable ones so I’m not left with things like clothing, accessories, or homewares that aren’t necessarily to my tastes. Along with the Lupicia fukubukuro (well, box, actually!) that I get every year, I also usually grab a coffee one – and this year I went for the Tully’s Coffee offering.

Similar to Lupicia, Tully’s also had three different fukubukuro to choose from, priced at ¥4000, ¥6600, and ¥10000 respectively. I opted for the cheapest one, and I was quite satisfied with what it contained!

For the ¥4000 price, you get:

  • A reusable tote bag in either red or brown (I opted for brown)
  • A mini rabbit teddy plush to welcome in the year of the rabbit
  • A tin of matcha latte flavored candy with rabbit motifs on the tin
  • A 140 gram bag of Brazilian coffee grounds
  • A box of single serve original blend instant coffees (4 in the box)
  • 5 drink tickets for future purchases

The bag had several nods to the year of the rabbit, such as the motifs on the matcha latte candy tin.

The value for money aspect is great, and the only thing I wasn’t that interested in was the small plush toy. For me it wasn’t necessary, and if I didn’t have kids it would have probably been tossed – but my daughter has happily taken it as hers, so it hasn’t gone to waste. Everything else will be consumed, and the tote bag helps me cut down on plastic waste – I always try and have a few in my car so I don’t use plastic bags!

The only thing I wasn't too enthused by – however, my daughter was pleased with it!

I think if you’re a coffee lover this is a fun fukubukuro to try, and if you frequent Tully’s anyway it basically pays for itself with the drink coupons included.

Have you purchased any coffee fukubukuro as we head into 2023? Any recommendations for good ones?
