Mont Blancs as a sign autumn has arrived

One sign that shows me autumn has arrived here in Japan is when the Mont Blancs start appearing everywhere!

Lately, I've noticed more and more of my local cafes adding them to their autumn menus. What I think is cool is that there are also plenty of Japanese twists on the dessert. For instance, I've seen purple sweet potato Mont Blancs quite a bit over the years. 

It's not just cafes, either. Convenience stores really jump on board with the Mont Blanc trend too, with all kinds of chestnut-inspired sweets turning up in the dessert section. There are cakes, puddings, pastries, and ice creams that make it easy to get your fix. One of the things I love about living in Japan is how noticeable the seasons are in the food!
