Be ready for some heavy snow in Niigata, Nagano, and northern Kanto

From the 21st (tomorrow!), some very heavy snowfall is expected across Niigata, Nagano, and parts of northern Kanto. In Niigata, as much as 100 centimeters could fall in just 24 hours, with significant snow also expected in Nagano and northern Kanto. The snow may continue through the weekend and possibly into the 25th.

If you're anything like me and rely on public transport or driving, it's worth checking schedules now and building in extra time. I'm making sure I have food, batteries, and other basics at home so I can hunker down, and in case there are brief power cuts.

There are also warnings about avalanches and people getting stranded, so this isn't the time to go taking unnecessary risks! If you have the option to just stay at home, that would be my recommendation.
