So hot, already!

I say it like it's a big surprise, and really it's not, but it's already so hot this year and we've barely dipped our toe into summer. I was out walking this morning at about 5.30am and it was super humid already. I also saw a number of farmers out working in their fields, because realistically it's very dangerous to do so in the middle of the day.

It was already a sauna out and the sun had been up for next to no time.

I saw an article yesterday via NHK that mentioned 24 localities here in Niigata are already experiencing midsummer-like temperatures, including the very nearby Nagaoka, where it hit 34.1 degrees yesterday! It's an important time to be aware of heatstroke and do what you can to minimize the effects. I'm working from home, staying indoors in air conditioned comfort, and hydrating well.
