Summer = melon time

One of the quintessential flavors of summer here is melon, and I am already seeing it pop up at many places. For instance, Tully's has a melon yogurt frozen drink on their menu at the moment, and local cafes are incorporating it into their dessert menus, from waffles to parfaits.

Our local area of Niigata is famous for watermelon production, and if that's a melon type that you enjoy I would definitely recommend sourcing some Yairo watermelon. My family and I are probably biased in that regard, but they are some of the best watermelons we've ever enjoyed.
