Happening this weekend: the Echigo Winery Grape Festival

I knew a little bit about sake before moving to Japan, but I honestly had no clue that there was a growing wine culture here, too. We actually have a winery out here in Minamiuonuma called Echigo Winery, and their annual grape festival takes place this weekend (14th and 15th of September for 2025).

I've been to the event numerous times and it really is a lot of fun for the whole fam. They have activities like grape picking, stage performances, raffles, and gourmet food offerings. The views aren't half bad, either.
