Post worker gratitude in snow country
As an expat in Japan, there are lots of everyday moments that catch me off guard and fill me with gratitude. One of them is the reliability of the postal workers here, especially on those days when winter feels determined to shut the world down. When snow piles up on streets, the mail still arrives. There's something reassuring about spotting these workers carefully navigating the snowy roads, protecting letters and parcels like they truly matter.

Kudos to the mail carriers who work their behinds off in unforgiving conditions.
It's a big contrast to life back in my home country of Australia, where the extremes run in the opposite direction. There, your postie is more likely to be battling a brutal heatwave than snow. I used to feel for them, too, being out in the relentless sun with temperatures that made you question why anyone would be outside at all...much like the summers here, to be honest.
Both places demand resilience, just in different forms, and whether it's snowstorms or scorching heat, the job gets done. I'm grateful for the people that work in uncomfortable conditions to make my life a little more comfortable and connected.
