The description

This product is the new Yukimi Daifuku Choco Sakusaku from the Lotte brand. I found it at my local 7-11 recently, and it was priced at 194 yen including tax.

The good

As a big fan of Yukimi Daifuku, I'm pretty regularly on the lookout for new flavors being released, which happens quite often! This new Choco Sakusaku variant is their latest offering, and if you like a bit of textural crunch with your ice cream (to go along with that nice mochi chew!) then this is a fun option to try. The whole "schtick" with this one is that it contains the same chocolate pieces that the iconic Suikaba watermelon popsicles do, and I think it's a really fun pairing of two favorite Japanese icy treats! I love that it comes with two pieces so it's easy to share, or even eat one now and save one for later (although I wouldn't judge at all if you ate both in one sitting!)

The not so good

I think if you love texture in your ice creams then this will be a big winner, but on the flipside, if you prefer smooth textures all the way through without any surprise crunchy bits, then this isn't going to be very appealing at all -- steer clear of these if that's the case! Overall though, I think this was a really fun Yukimi Daifuku variant. I loved that it contained the smooth ice cream, crunchy chocolate bits, and chewy mochi, so it really is a bit of a textural wonderland as far as ice cream goes. Keep an eye out for it at your nearest convenience stores if it sounds like a must try item to you :)
