Adorable chocolates from Morozoff

When I was in Osaka for work recently I stayed near the Hankyu Umeda Department Store, and while I was there I naturally did a bit of shopping that I can’t do in the countryside of Niigata. One place that caught my eye was Morozoff, a chocolatier that has a long history in Japan. The company started out in Kobe back in 1931, and since then they’ve expanded to numerous stores across the country. They’ve also got a presence in several overseas destinations, including Cambodia, China, the United Arab Emirates, and Taiwan.

Right now they have a wide variety of beautiful boxed chocolate offerings in the lead up to Valentine’s Day, including a host of fun collaboration items with the likes of Dick Bruna (the creator of Miffy), and Lycka Till (the Norwegian illustration duo of Ingrid Reithaug & Tonje Holand who operate Darling Clementine). I’m often drawn to Scandinavian design, so I picked up a couple of items from the Lycka Till collection. They would be such a fun gift for yourself or a loved one this Valentine’s Day!

The first item I purchased was the Mini Chocolate Assortment (¥ 864 including tax) which comes with 18 chocolates in an adorable tin. The chocolates come in shapes of buttons, flowers, hearts, and butterflies, with a horse-shaped chocolate as the centerpiece in the middle. The presentation is a solid 10 out of 10, and I thought for the price it was really reasonable. With this product you also get a nice paper bag which also has illustrations on it, so yes – it’s a perfect ready-to-go option for gifting!

I loved the presentation of the Mini Chocolate Assortment, and felt that it was great value for money at ¥ 864 including tax.

The second item I got was a smaller one – the Cat-Themed Mini Box (¥ 324 including tax). They had several types of these mini boxes with different animal themes such as rabbits, bears, pandas, and penguins to name just a few, and they’re all the same ¥ 324 price. The cat themed box came with one cat shaped chocolate, three flower-shaped chocolates, and a square chocolate with a nice geometric-style pattern on it. I think these are a great option if you’re looking for an inexpensive but classy chocolate option for a loved one – it felt really fancy but without a super exorbitant price tag.

At a reasonable ¥ 324 including tax, these animal-themed mini boxes in the Lycka Till range represent great value for a cute and classy product.

If you’re not located near a Morozoff store (you can find their store locator here), they do have an online shop that you can browse and purchase from if you so wish. They’ve got so many cute items to choose from that it’s hard not to add one of everything to your cart!

Have you been to a Morozoff store before? Are there any chocolatiers near you that you have your eyes on for Valentine’s Day shopping?
