The good
If you're a coffee lover and you also appreciate a good choux cream, then this new Caramel Macchiato Choux from Beard Papa stores is well worth trying out. It's designed under the premise of being a caramel macchiato you can eat, and I think it does a pretty good job of delivering on that! You can definitely taste the bitterness of the coffee flavor combined with the sweetness of the caramel, which turns it into a very satisfying dessert. I think it also presents quite nicely, with the fun criss-cross style pattern decorating the top.
The not so good
Like the tsukimi-themed choux pastry that I just reviewed, the caramel macchiato one is also only available throughout the month of September. If you find yourself really enjoying it, the window to get your hands on it is pretty narrow! Also, it is a touch more expensive than most of the other choux creams -- for example, the tsukimi-themed one is 40 yen cheaper at 290 yen including tax. If you're just after a choux cream fix and don't care too much about flavors or fillings, then there are more economical options to choose from. Overall though, I think if you're a coffee fan then it's a fun one to try at least once! :)
