15th January - Japan’s strawberry day!

Did you know Japan has a strawberry day? I didn’t, until I saw the influx of strawberry everything on convenience store shelves. Japan’s strawberry day is the 15th of January - and that’s owed to the fact that ichigo, or strawberry, sounds like ichi, go - or the numbers one and five. The things you learn! Here’s just some of what you’ll find at convenience stores right now.

Even strawberry pai no mi!

And of course our family favorite I wrote about the other day, yuki ichigo (and a host of other strawberry filled cakes and goodies).

Japan’s strawberries are the tastiest I’ve ever encountered, so I’m not mad about this at all! If you need an excuse to indulge, this might just be it.
