The description
This product is a chicken pot pie, and it's available from KFC stores for a limited time. It's priced at 470 yen on its own, or you can get it in a meal for 880 yen.
The good
Savory pies are a pretty big thing both in my home country (Australia) and my husband's home country (America), the latter of which is known for their chicken pot pies. If you're an expat missing those flavors, KFC is offering a chicken pot pie option for a limited time. Along with the chicken in a creamy, stew-style filling, there's Hokkaido potatoes, carrots, corn, and onions, so it really does work as a meal in and of itself. The pastry part is super generous (it overhangs the pie quite a bit) and it's fun to break some of that off to dip into the pie filling. Good flavor and the price doesn't feel too bad given the size of the product.
The not so good
Obviously one key downside with this product is that it's a limited time only thing. If you find yourself really enjoying it, the window to get your hands on it is pretty narrow. As far as I know this is just a "while stocks last" item, so if it sounds like a must-try to you I would suggest heading in to your nearest KFC store sooner rather than later! Overall, this is a really yummy addition to the KFC menu lineup, and I like that it feels different but still very on brand for a chicken chain. It also feels very suitable for the season, and I think it'll be popular as a warming meal. Give it a go if it sounds appealing to you -- happy eating, and enjoy! :)
