Your chance to sleep inside a Poké Ball

Some of my most memorable trips during my years here have come about because of accommodation that was a little different from the norm. Japan is really good at coming up with places to stay that become part of the experience rather than just somewhere to sleep, and a recent one I read about definitely caught my attention.

Pokémon Sleep and NOT A HOTEL are teaming up to create a giant Poké Ball-shaped accommodation somewhere in Hokkaido, and the space is set to open sometime this month. The whole concept takes inspiration from the idea of a Poké Ball being a comfortable place for Pokémon to rest, and I think it looks pretty cozy from the artists impressions on the press release I linked above.

I can see a Poké Ball being pretty cozy and comfy to sleep inside!

There's one catch, though, and that's the fact that you can't book it. The stay is being offered as a prize through a special campaign, and the accommodation won't be open to the general public during the campaign period. All the details about how to enter the campaign are due to be announced on September 15th, which is tomorrow.

I've never needed much convincing to visit Hokkaido, but a chance to sleep inside a giant Poké Ball would 100% give me another reason to make the trip!
