Japan - where your pup's haircut is more expensive than your own!

One thing I noticed when moving to Japan was that people are BIG on their pets here. They're more than just a part of the family - there are some seriously pampered pooches rolling around in fancy strollers and dressed to the nines. You only have to look at how much a pup costs here to realize the investment people put into their animals (and if you haven't, go and look in a pet store and be prepared for your eyes to water).

Onto my point though - I got my hair cut yesterday, at a reputable salon. I had a coupon from Hot Pepper (I love a good bargain!) and the cut was only 3980 yen...to me, that's a pretty great price for a cut that took a solid hour!

It was only when I got home though that my husband made the point that my haircut was actually less expensive than our dog's grooming appointment the previous weekend. Granted, his cut only just beat out my own - his was 4000 yen on the dot - but I had to laugh at how right hubby was.

Our pup did look pretty dapper after his appointment, though - and he got a cute little sushi bandana and a glamour shot photo out of the deal, too!
