Desperate times, desperate measures

I don't know about you guys but it is sweltering out here in Niigata the last few days. I just looked at my phone before and despite only being 36c (I say only...that's still pretty darn hot), the "feels like" temperature is 47. No fun for anyone!

My husband yelled out to me earlier "there's a towel on the floor in the kitchen, but don't worry about it"...which naturally made me worry! So I walk in there, and he's done this...

Desperate times, desperate measures photo

It may be the single most hilarious thing I've seen. Like most of you are probably aware, central air is a rarity here, especially in older countryside houses like ours. My husband took the liberty of taping an ice block to the front of a fan with duct tape, and put the towel there to catch any drips.

It's fallen off already, but my laughter hasn't fully subsided yet.

You guys had any "desperate times call for desperate measures" moments this summer?

Nice idea! I have a huge ice pack like that one. I place it in the middle of the kotatsu table in my living room. I aim the fan at it. See? Kotatsu tables are all season.

Must be extra humid. I always thought people were to sensitive to heat. Then I moved from an arid climate to a humid one..... 75f can feel sweltering with enough humidity.

@zkoynz yesterday here was a "feels like" temperature of 48 Celsius at one point, or about 118f! Scorching!
