Shine muscat season is upon us!

One of my favorite signs that autumn is approaching in Japan is the arrival of Shine Muscat grapes. They've got such a good texture and sweetness, better than any other grape variety I've tried.

Shine Muscat season is also a great excuse to indulge in the (seemingly endless!!) grape-themed desserts that appear around the country at this time of year. Coco's Restaurants are joining in with their latest Shine Muscat Fair, which began this month and features several limited-edition desserts.

The star of the lineup is a parfait containing 14 Shine Muscat grapes, which is apparently the most the restaurant chain has ever used in a single parfait. There's also a Shine Muscat crepe, a mini parfait, and a shaved ice option, plus a limited-edition Muscat and Elderflower Tea available from the drink bar.
