Nyan day in Japan is celebrated on February 22nd, because the date sounds similar to the sound cats make. Each year, Kaldi Coffee Farm releases these Nyan cat coffee packs, and they come in a box of 10 with four different package designs. I think if you're an animal lover -- and especially a cat lover -- then these will be very appealing. Taste-wise, the coffee is a medium roast blend that uses beans from Rwanda and Brazil, and it's really nice -- balanced and almost fruity. The packs are nice to have on hand for mornings where you don't need to brew an entire pot of coffee, or for when you might be traveling for work or leisure.

These are available around this time each year, and they've gone up by 100 yen for the same amount of sachets since 2024. Often when I review recent purchases, I go back to my reviews from prior years when I know it's a product that has been released before, and it really provides some food for thought about the constant issues with inflation. In saying that, brewing one of these sachets is still far cheaper than getting a coffee at somewhere like Tully's or Starbucks, so you've got to count the wins where you can. Keep an eye out for these at your local Kaldi if you're a coffee + cats fan!
