The description
This product is a Mont Blanc stick cake, and it's a limited time offering available from Lawson's Uchi Cafe sweets range at the moment. It was priced at 292 yen.
The good
Typically I see Mont Blancs served up in the parfait cup-style format, so this stick cake offering at Lawson caught my eye recently. It's got the trademark Mont Blanc chestnut cream topping, but it comes served on a layer of shortcake and a soft cookie base. I thought it was an interesting shake up to the usual style, so if you want something familiar-ish but with a fun, different spin, this is a nice option to try. It's also a fairly decent portion size, and in my opinion it's enough to cut into two pieces for a smaller sweet treat -- it was perfect for my husband and myself, served with an afternoon cup of tea.
The not so good
In my opinion I felt the price was a little high for this, at almost 300 yen including tax. I think closer to the mid 200 yen mark would have felt like a more appropriate price. Also, the cookie base layer was a little soft feeling -- while I didn't mind this, I'm sure that some folks out there might be expecting more of a crispy crunch to a cookie layer. Just keep that in mind if you plan on purchasing it! Overall it was just fine, but I don't think I would be going out of my way to repurchase it.
