USJ taking steps to avoid heatstroke for summer patrons
If I had to pick a time of year to visit a theme park, I can assure you that summer here would not be that time, but I'm sure for some people it might be the only timeframe that it's feasible to visit depending on things like work schedules.
I thought it was pretty encouraging, then, to see a press release about Universal Studios Japan taking a variety of measures to keep the chance of heatstroke down in their patrons.

A new program called Cool Splash Time will soak guests with bursts of water from rooftops twice daily, and the "NO LIMIT! Summer Splash Parade" lets visitors cool down with park characters and entertainers through water shooters and mist effects.
The park has also designated areas like the "Mega Cool Zone" which is equipped with large mist fans and splash areas, allowing visitors to take a break from the heat. In Gramercy Park there have been some eco-friendly updates, like shade-providing trees and heat-reducing organic turf to improve comfort.
They're also taking a leaf from Japan's traditional summer cooling methods playbook, and doing some uchimizu, or wetting the ground to help reduce the overall temperature.
I can't use any pictures from the press release on here because they're not my own, but it looks like they'll be making the summer much more fun and bearable with the initiatives!
Are you planning any summertime theme park trips?
