Japan's 2026 shopping trends an interesting mix of saving and splurging!

Are shoppers here becoming more careful with their spending, or are they treating themselves a little more? According to new research from product comparison site MyBest, 2026 has been a year of doing both!

Analyzing browsing data from 30 million monthly users, MyBest identified four major consumer trends. One is a growing focus on saving money where possible while spending more on things considered worthwhile. With rising grocery prices, products like air fryers and vacuum storage containers have attracted quite a bit of attention. Interest in higher-end appliances such as large-screen TVs and food waste disposers has also increased.

Another trend is bringing restaurant-quality experiences home, with items like coffee makers and high-end toasters gaining popularity. I can definitely see the benefit there if it saves on cafe visits!
