Jalan's Kanto region winter scenery rankings

If you're thinking about planning a winter escape, a new ranking from travel website Jalan highlighted some of the Kanto region's top seasonal scenery. It was based on a nationwide survey conducted by Recruit Co., and the list focused on destinations that are at their best during the colder months.

Unfortunately I don't have personal wintery photos of the destinations mentioned, so this local photo will have to do!

First up was the Yunishigawa Onsen Kamakura Festival in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture, which is held from late January to early March. Second place went to Lake Okushima in Gunma Prefecture, located in the Shima Onsen area. Third was the Misotsuchi Icicles in Saitama, which you can read more about on fellow City-Cost member BigFamJapan's website here.

Other ranked spots include Mt Fuji views at Lake Ashi in Hakone, frozen waterfalls in Nikko and Ibaraki, and snow covered shrines and gorges across Gunma and Tochigi. Many of these destinations are accessible as day trips from Tokyo, but just be sure to dress warmly! If you want to browse the full list, you can find it here.

Thank you so so much for the shout out and link K. I really appreciate it. And I am so chuffed that Saitama featured in the top 3. Whoop!
