I feel like acai bowls and drinks have been having their moment in the sun at convenience stores this year, and the latest offering I've seen is this acai bowl ice cream which is part of Family Mart's current "Hawaiian Fair" range. It's priced at 450 yen including tax which is cheaper than any acai bowl I would be able to find at an independent cafe, and it includes acai shaved ice topped with honey, a banana flavored sauce, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple chunks, and granola. I personally loved the freshness of this, and the mix of different flavors and textures from the fruits and granola made it anything but boring to eat. I'd recommend it for a summery-feeling breakfast or even as a snack to keep you going between meals.

This isn't a huge portion size, and while I feel like it's a good deal when you compare it to cafe acai bowl pricing, it feels fairly expensive for a convenience store offering. Also, if you don't like tons of textures in your desserts of choice, then this won't be the most appealing option out there for you. Overall though, I think this is a really good release for the summer. The mix of acai, various fruits, and granola feels light and fresh yet gives some substance, so it works well as a nice breakfast for a hot day. Keep it in mind if it sounds appealing to you -- it's only a limited time thing, though! Happy eating!
