Is Japan's summer heat getting harder as we get older?

Maybe it's just me, but Japanese summers seem to get harder every year. If you're an expat who's been here for a while and is now in your 40s or 50s, you might be noticing the same thing.

Orthogroup has highlighted summer fatigue as a particular concern for this age group, pointing to changes in metabolism and muscle mass, along with dehydration, mineral loss, poor sleep, and reduced appetite.

Their advice is fairly simple, including tips like drinking regularly rather than waiting until you're thirsty, replacing minerals when you've been sweating heavily, and not surviving entirely on cold noodles (although that sounds appealing quite a lot). Water and barley tea are recommended for everyday hydration, while foods such as tofu, natto, eggs, pork, vegetables, seaweed, and fruit can help provide the nutrients you need.

Having more than just cold noodles was one of the tips the research outlined.
