If you are looking for an advent calendar to countdown to Christmas but want something different than the usual chocolate-filled ones (if you can even manage to find those!) then this Lego advent calendar on Amazon Japan is a fun option. Behind each window there's a Lego City themed piece to find, which includes both minifigures and smaller Lego items requiring quick assembly. I actually prefer advent calendars like this rather than the candy-filled ones for my kids because there's the "use again" element to these -- we are big Lego fans in our household so this has been a big hit.

When I ordered this at the end of November it was priced at 2771 yen, but I noticed since then the price has shot up to 4100 yen! I'm sure that if you buy this in the "off season" and stash it away for Christmas you can probably get a better deal on it -- I was a bit disappointed to see the substantial price jump in just a matter of a week or so. That aside, the quality of the product is very good as I've come to expect from Lego, and it's a hit with my son who is Lego-obsessed. It's a really fun item to get into the festive spirit for both kids and kids at heart!
