Thankful for rice farmers

With all the talk about rice prices of late, I am extremely thankful for rice farmers! A lot of the fields around our local area have been planted over the last week or so, and it reminds me how labor intensive the job is, even when planted by machine. These farmers are out in all kinds of weather conditions (it's been both hot and rainy out here this week), so it really does make you appreciate what goes on behind the scenes to get rice on a table. 

I don't know that there's some magic fix for the current rice crisis -- I'll leave the strategies for that up to the powers that be -- but I see how hard the farmers out here work, and I know they're doing all they can to make sure demand is met.
