Tokyo's bakeries get praise from Airbnb as a "travel trend" for 2026

I read a lot of travel-based press releases for work, and I saw that Airbnb had released their travel trends for 2026 over the last couple of days. One of their projections is that "bakery destinations" are going to become more of a thing in the coming year, and Tokyo was listed as one of those places!

There are so many tasty treats at bakeries here, and that's not just confined to Tokyo, either!

I do think it's fitting, since there are some really incredible bakeries here, not just in Tokyo but across Japan. I love that there's so much care taken in the appearance of bread here, too, with lots of deliberately cute offerings (e.g. ghost-shaped breads for Halloween, and snowman-shaped breads for winter/Christmas).
