I buy almost all of my kids shoes from Amazon Japan (big thanks to those City-Cost gift vouchers which help alleviate the cost!) and because of that I often pick Adidas branded shoes. These Tensaur ones are well priced at under 3000 yen (impossible in my home country for brand-name sneakers!) and they have velcro fasteners -- convenient for busy mornings where you don't need to be worrying about your kids tying their shoelaces. The grip on them is good, too, and if you don't care for the white and blue colorway they do regularly have other colors in this style.

This particular pair ran a little big -- I went a whole size up for my son, but I really should have just gone for a half size up. I'll just leave these in the shoe cupboard until he grows into them, but I'll get the size down when we get our voucher for this month. There is also a bit of fluctuation with pricing on these, I would recommend popping them in your cart if you plan on purchasing them -- that way you can see when the price goes down and purchase them then! Overall, these are a sturdy, well made shoe at a reasonable price point for a branded product. If you just search for Adidas Tensaur on Amazon Japan they should come up.
