Katakuri time!

It's katakuri (dogtooth violet) season out here right now, and I think they are one of the real treats of spring. I don't think many people know about them, but they grow quite well out here in Uonuma and Minamiuonuma. There are a few parks and hiking areas in Koide where you can find them, but you do have to keep your eyes peeled for them a bit since they are on the ground, not blooming on a tree or bush!

The photo above is at Koide Park, and it's a really nice spot not just for katakuri but also for other blooms like sakura. You can also enjoy some great views of the surrounding mountains from there!
