Kanazawa gold leaf curry!

I was in Kanazawa yesterday for a work project, and I’ve often seen the infamous gold leaf soft creams you can get in the city splashed about online (particularly on social media channels) since they’re so Instagramable and photogenic.

One food that’s usually anything but photogenic? Curry. It’s hard to get curry to look pretty in pictures, but I walked past this cafe trying to change that notion by selling Kanazawa gold leaf curry! It may be a little hard to tell from the quick picture I snapped, but the curry is sprinkled with some gold leaf pieces for some added pizazz. Wished I’d had time (and stomach space!) to stop in, but sadly I’d already grabbed a bite to eat elsewhere. 

The gold leaf curry can be found at Cafe Maruju in the Higashi Chaya district. One to keep in mind if you’re looking for a bite to eat in the area.
