The U.S. Embassy isn't playing around about bears

Obviously we are all fairly aware of the risk of bears here in Japan at the moment, but that has extended to embassies now putting our warnings to their citizens. The American Citizen Services, U.S. Embassy Tokyo Facebook page put out the information below, along with a link to a "wildlife alert" with more details.

The link above noted that authorities closed Maruyama Park in Sapporo (which is adjacent to the U.S. Consulate General) for two weeks following a bear sighting in the park. The overall warning is for Sapporo City, Hokkaido Prefecture, Akita Prefecture, and other parts of Northern Japan.

Have you heard any communication from your country's embassy like this one for U.S. Citizens?
