Like a candied sweet potato in donut form

This particular donut is inspired by daigaku imo, a candied sweet potato dish -- and I think it did well to emulate those vibes. The cake-style ring donut comes topped with a sweet glaze and is dotted with black sesame seeds, so even in appearance it looks a little like daigaku imo. Taste-wise I really liked this, and even though it was topped with the sweet glaze it didn't feel excessively sweet. It's also tied for the cheapest price in this sweet potato donut range, clocking in at 151 yen including tax. I felt that it was quite reasonable especially given that the quality and taste were very good.

Compared to some of the other donuts in the range, such as the sweet potato brulee donut and the sweet potato cream-topped donut, this one might feel a little simple to some people. If you prefer donuts with a bit more flair and more involved toppings, I would recommend one of the others I mentioned over this one. The only other real downside to me is that this won't be around for long! I thoroughly enjoyed this donut, and appreciated the flavorsome yet simple glazed topping. I recommend trying it this autumn while it's available!
