The description
This product is a limited-time, new release from Haagen-Dazs – the Raisin Butter Sandwich Ice Cream. I purchased it from 7-11 and it was priced at 319 yen including tax.
The good
If you like rum and raisin flavored ice cream, you're almost guaranteed to like this new Haagen-Dazs option. The rich, vanilla ice cream has a slight rum taste to it, and it's then dotted with rum-soaked raisins. On the top of the ice cream, there are butter cookie chunks, making for a fun textural addition to the product. I personally love ice creams that have things mixed into them, so this was a win for me. The product definitely felt like an indulgent ice cream, too. If you want something that feels a little more special or upmarket, I recommend giving this product a try.
The not so good
I feel like a broken record in this regard, but the price of Haagen-Dazs for the portion size feels extreme. Yes, it's "luxury" ice cream, and yes, I enjoyed it. However, is it worth more than an ice cream I could get for the ~100 yen range and still enjoy just as much? Not really. I wouldn't go out of my way to purchase this again after my initial taste test of it because of the price point. Other than that, no real complaints for this product. If you like rum and raisin ice cream I recommend seeing if your local convenience store or supermarket has it in stock.
