A new job search site for foreigners in Japan
Job hunting in Japan can be a bit of a headache when you're a foreign resident. Finding vacancies that match your residence status or Japanese language ability can take some digging, so I was interested to read about a new website designed to make the process easier.
Wagaya Japan has launched Wagaya Jobs, an online job search site specifically for foreigners looking for work in Japan. It lets users browse vacancies across the country and apply directly to employers, rather than having to rely on a recruitment agency.

One feature I think is helpful is the search filters. You can narrow down jobs by residence status, as well as Japanese language ability from JLPT N1 through to N5. There are also filters for location and job type, which should make it easier to find relevant openings.
There's also a practical extra for anyone planning to relocate. Wagaya Japan has a property rental platform, too, and Wagaya Jobs can help connect job seekers with accommodation that accepts foreign tenants. Anyone who has tried to find a rental in Japan knows that can be another challenge in itself!
The site is free for job seekers to register and use, and there's an optional recruitment agent service for those who would prefer some extra support. One potential downside, though, is that the site is in Japanese, so you're going to need at least a basic level understanding of Japanese (or some heavy lifting from Google Translate!) to get you through.
