An appreciation of Culture Day
I really love the concept of Culture Day. I think it's a great way to encourage people to take an interest in the world around them, and I especially like that it gives families a chance to enjoy something cultural together without having to squeeze it into a busy weekend.
One thing I've come to appreciate about living here is just how prevalent art and culture are, even in tiny towns like my own. You don't necessarily have to head to Tokyo to find an interesting exhibition, a local museum, a traditional craft, or something that celebrates the area's history. There's often something worth discovering right on your doorstep, and I think that's part of what makes living here so interesting.

Museums seem to be everywhere here, even in my small countryside town!
As an Aussie, I can't help wishing we had something similar back home. We have public holidays tied to sporting events, including a horse race called the Melbourne Cup (which, funnily enough, is also today), but I'd love to see a day that actively encourages people to explore art, history, and culture instead. I'd happily get behind that!
