Peaceful autumns

Something I love about living in Niigata is that you have lots of places where you can enjoy autumn color without the crowds. At one of my favorite local shrines in Nagaoka, the vivid yellows were just lovely this past week, and I didn't see another person there when I stopped by!

I think you can find these kinds of places in busier urban areas, too, you just have to be prepared to probably deal with at least a smattering of people compared to countryside options. I personally find these quieter spots a lot nicer to enjoy the changing of the seasons, because I can just appreciate the color instead of feeling like I'm jostling for position.
