Gift from Santa at kindergarten
My son got off the bus and ran up to me squealing like the little school kid he is. He yelled "Santa came to school!" I didn’t realize exactly how excited he would be to see Santa.
Just like last year, he got a present from Santa. Like a lot of the gifts he gets from the kindergarten, they are slightly educational. This time is a simple little shape puzzle, but cooler, to practice those motor skills type of education. My son is definitely past the shape puzzle stage in development, so I'm glad there are more aspects to the gift.
The gifts inside the presents, and stickers to match up and stick on.

The kids are meant to tighten up the belt between the presents and the packaging. Tying the knot definitely required a lot of patience from this mommy.
I have never taught my son how to tie anything. But I’m really glad this pushed me to do it. Japanese shoes for kids don’t have shoelaces. It’s bloody impossible to find a pair of kids shoes with shoelaces that are actually functioning. Absolutely all shoes for children are Velcro. But man I wish I would’ve had him practice on shoelaces instead of this impossible to tighten ribbon string. Because it is so smooth and stiff, it would instantly slip undone as soon as my son let go. I think he leveled up his dexterity though because by the fifth and final present for him he could do it on his own.
I was really proud but clearly he was tired of doing it. He did maintain his enthusiasm much longer than I thought he would. And the next day he wanted to do it again. It’s a pretty good gift when a child wants to continue doing something that they get frustrated with.
I am really glad that the school makes an effort to have something christmassy happen. I know growing up in the States I really enjoyed the amount of festivities that happened at school around Christmas time and I am glad my son won't be missing out on any of that fun.
I think the kindergarten does a good job in choosing the gifts and making them appropriate for the season as well as the level of child development. Just like with the sports day prize, they sent home the kids with things that can continue the fun of the event.
