Finding the autumn colors in front of your door [SPOT REPORT]

Going to all the popular places known for autumn colors is something special, but mostly these places are crowded, because everybody wants to see it and takes photos there. Sometimes it is best to look for a nice spot right in front of your door.

In my case, I ended up taking photos just right in front of JR Sagamihara Station, the station closest to our apartment. There are three ginkgo trees next to the train tracks and they just turned nearly completely yellow during the last week. We (my husband and I) stopped there after lunch on Saturday (December 3rd) and I took the opportunity for a little photo shoot. Surprisingly, we were not the only couple taking photos there right at this moment. But usually, this place is quite empty, next to the people waiting for the bus.

I loved all the yellow ginkgo leaves lying on the ground and while I was taking some photos of these, some pigeons came closer to take a look. Probably they were hoping that we might drop some food for them. But they ended up as photo models.

I also could not resist sitting down and throwing up some of the leaves. It was really fun and I felt a bit like a child. Also, the Yokohama Line is running in the background, so train fans can take photos of it together with the ginkgo leaves.

Sagamihara Station also has to offer some sakura trees. These are really beautiful in spring, but the autumn leaves are more of the normal kind, compared to the colorful red momoji and yellow ginkgo. Also, their leaves are falling pretty fast and so all the cherry trees in front of the station are already bald.

Just coming back to the topic: it is nice to have a small autumn spot for you close to your home or the area you are often going. I am already looking forward to seeing the ginkgo leaves changing their color in front of Sagamihara station next year.
