I'm a potato chip fan, raised on the typical flavour profiles available in my native Canada. Flavours I love are hickory, dill, and barbeque. Japan's preferred dressings are refreshingly different. Calbee's long-selling chips feature consomme. It's based on the French consommé, a rich, clear soup made from clarified stock or broth. In February 2025, Calbee released a limited quantity of Potato Chips Consomme Punch 350%. The chips are laden with way more flavor powder. They're crispy and packed with umami.

These chips, Calbee Consomme Punch 350% are loaded with flavor and the price is right. While the product page says that pricing is open, they're reasonable at about 150-170 yen for a 52 gram bag. The flavour is rich, of course, with a lot of umami and rich consomme soup flavour. Note that the bag is 52 grams. A year ago, the same product would have been 10 grams heavier. Do you miss that 10 grams? Maybe if you're price concious and a bargain^hunter you're sensitive the shrinkflation of Japanese snack food products.
