The description
Iori Store, an Amazon Japan vendor, specializes in linens produced in Ehime Prefecture. This item is a half-size towel handkerchief. It comes in three colourways.
The good
If you follow my reviews, you'll see that I'm a fan of Imabari towels. The high-pile quality cotton towels appeal for their characteristic Japanese colourways. They're fluffy and brighten my kitchen and bath. This item is a half-size towel handkerchief made of 100% cotton. One half is a solid indigo colour, characteristic of Ehime's traditional textiles. The other side features a riff on the Iyo Kasuri, a characteristic woven textile produced in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture. I got this item from a vendor on Amazon Japan.
The not so good
For me, the Iyo Kasuri pattern is nostalgic, since I lived in Ehime Prefecture when I first came to Japan. The purchase on Amazon Japan from Iori Store is a bit of a splurge. It set me back about 900 yen. But I have no regrets. Imabari towels, made of 100% cotton, come in so many appealing "wafu" designs. They're super-absorbent because the makers use long-staple cotton. The resulting textile is durable and soft. Note that the pattern is inspired by Iyo Kasuri weaving. Consider it a tease. A great Matsuyama City souvenir is an Iyo Kasuri loom-woven item.
